Context palettes

I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide range of countries, and my work has taken me from the concrete canyons of metropolises to the lush underbrush of jungles and bleached beauty of deserts. Along the way I’ve written widely about what I’ve observed while running projects there, but there have been plenty of occasions where no amount of words or images can summarize how I think back to a place I’ve been – whether on a day trip, or working there for months on a project.

I found myself describing these places to other in terms of the dominant colors that formed the “palette” of the place, and when my girlfriend shared this site, which instructs users on how to manipulate Processing code to extract the most common colors out of a photo, I began experimenting with it.
