A placemat with Chinese food on it – in a Nepali restaurant. Is it meant as an appetizer (despite the fact that one cannot actually order this at the restaurant)? Why have a picture on your placemat at all? Is this the ideal aesthetic form for this object, or was it (as often is the case here in Myanmar) purchased because it was the most conveniently located option (an option that is often, incidentally, foreign in origin)?
