Palm protect

Are these almost-natural palm trunk barriers nailed together to
minimize roll-ability? If so, why not just position two leaned against
one another in a ‘V’ pattern? Are they bound together for added
weight? Is the padlocked gate not deterrent enough to vehicle traffic?Could a pair of single palm trunks laying in the driveway of the
abandoned building be interpreted as possibly having fallen there by
coincidence? Would single trunks possibly have been removed by
over-eager rubbish collectors? With an ample supply of rubble and
assorted scrap metal laying around that could have been converted into
a barrier function, what additional deterrent message do fallen palm
trunks send that other possible barriers do not?
