These plastic chairs are available to boat passengers for a mere ten kyats (about one US cent) aboard this government-owned ferry. This system, managed by the ticket collectors on board,  is a clever way of supplementing incomes with minimal required investment, and after each trip the chairs are quickly rounded up by the deckhands and re-stacked to be rented out to the next round of tired-legged  river-crossers.
