Is your context one where there are a set number of individuals (or perhaps just one?) whose likeness could be displayed on any wall anywhere and not questioned? Are they mortal, mythical, or something in between? Was their influence elected, inherited, or bestowed by religion/tradition? Which are “timeless”, and which could have their fluctuating popularity in a given moment represented along a bell curve, and to what extent does their popularity vary across urban and rural areas? Consider what the shift away from the ubiquitous display of such a figure would imply, and what else such shifting display practices are evident of (perhaps the rise of a different, competing likeness/individual?). What/who would replace that individual on the wall (if anyone/thing)? In the case of multiple adornment/likenesses, is their harmony or friction between them?
